25 Things I’ve Learned at 25

I turned 25 last month… I don’t even know how that’s possible, but yes, I did celebrate with a photoshoot in Magic Kingdom (definitely had some weird looks when I started blowing up my own balloons on Main Street). Now that I have finally finished mourning over being another year older and accepted the fact that I am halfway through my 20s; here’s a list of things I’ve learned in my 25 years. Cheers!

  1. You won’t feel like a “real adult”, you’ll question everything, you’ll feel lost, and you’ll think you’re not good enough. Fight through it. Being in your 20s is a rollercoaster ride.
  2. Don’t worry about things you cannot control.
  3. Unplug from social media every once in a while.
  4. Find your personal style and rock it.
  5. Go new places, whether that be across the globe or on the other side of town.
  6. Also, return to the places that make your heart happy.
  7. Discomfort oftentimes leads to growth.
  8. Let go of things that no longer bring you joy.
  9. It’s fully acceptable to eat chocolate in bed at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night.
  10. Get rid of clutter- in your environment and in your mind.
  11. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want; in the workplace, in relationships, etc.
  12. Lipstick will instantaneously make you appear put together.
  13. Making huge investments, like purchasing a new car, is completely terrifying yet rewarding at the same time.
  14. Find ways to express your creativity.
  15. At a time when it seems like everyone is getting married and having children, it is more than okay being unsure of your next step.
  16. Trust your gut. If it feels wrong, it probably is.
  17. Take the time to discover your real strengths, because more often than not, we tend to focus on our weaknesses.
  18. Don’t let people make you feel bad about your lifestyle, diet, or how you look.
  19. You’re going to lose touch with a lot of people, but your true friends will always stick around and be by your side.
  20. Embrace you personality. It’s okay to be “weird and quirky”.
  21. Holding back will get you no where.
  22. Stop worrying about what others think about you, because they probably aren’t thinking about you.
  23. Be kind: to others and yourself.
  24. Don’t believe all those negative thoughts running through your head late at night.
  25. You can’t wait for happiness, you have to fight for it.
